Electrolysis by Lisa
12012 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90025, United States
Lisa is an excellent medical professional, an artist, and a wonderful person. She immediately put me at ease when I spoke with her over the phone. I wanted to have some hair removed from my intimate area, which made me a little nervous. Many electrologists dont work on this area, but Lisa does, and she is extremely professional about it. Wasnt awkward at all.She is exactly the type of person you would want to perform electrolysis/thermolysis on you: clear, careful, sensitive, precise. She uses a state-of-the-art Apilus XCell Pro and she knows how to use it. She also has a variety of probes/needles. She tried every setting and every probe that she had in order to find which would be the most effective at removing my hair, while also keeping any discomfort to a minimum. Her studio is very clean and organized. Shes almost always running right on time, but if shes ever running a few minutes longer with a client, shell send you a text to let you know, which I really appreciate. Five stars for communication!I was planning on trying at least 3 different electrologists in the the Santa Monica/West LA area before deciding on who to go with long-term. But I lucked out on my first electrologist with Lisa. I decided to purchase 10 hour package, which she offers at a reduced hourly rate. Ive already begun recommending her to friends. Also, there has always been plenty of free street parking within half a block of her studio.

I moved to LA searching for a new laser spot that has expertise working there. This clinic has doctors and nurses that provide the best service when it comes to procedures.I had laser hair removal and I have seen results even after 1 session. The difference is insane. I recommend everyone to come here. Save ur $ from other places that charge too much and come here instead for ur treatments. If u get razor bumps which I did from shaving, this procedure will change ur life ! No more last minute shaving and razor bumps.:)

Amy is great! The procedure was fast & painless!------------Update: I completed 3 of 6 upper lip laser hair removals (already paid for entire 6 through Groupon) & 2 of 8 full-face laser hair removals (I was paying as I went since it was an add-on) when Amy called & said that they were closing for a month or so for some work on the machines. We set a new appointment date for when they were scheduled to return, but she canceled that one, too, saying the machines werent ready & she didnt know when they would be. She said she would call me to reschedule once they were back up. She never called. Its been 8 months since my last treatment. I accidentally stumbled across them on Yelp & it appears they are back to work & I was never informed. Not sure what happened, but whatever it was it appears shady since I am still owed treatments that I already paid for & never received.I would NOT recommend giving this place your money.
Neihule Academy of Beauty
305 E 8th St #101, Los Angeles, CA 90014, United States
Overall, I had a very productive and positive experience at the school. But let's break it down the good, the bad, and the ugly:The good: obviously, you have to consider the price. Anywhere that you can get a $35 full cut/style for a woman with long hair is kind of astonishing. For a beauty school, $35 is expensive, but this is the only school in the area that uses luxury products. Rather than drugstore brands, you're getting Kevin Murphy, Oribe, Keratase, and other high-end products. Additionally, all of the instructors seem very involved, and very experienced, and the students seem to feel very empowered to ask for help if they need it. My stylist consulted with an instructor and they both took five minutes to speak with me to really make sure that I wasn't allergic to any of the shampoo choices ( I have some allergies). I even saw one of the founders and owners of the flagship salon helping out students and working on clients there at the school! The particular student who did my hair listened exactly to what I said, and did exactly what I wanted. I got an excellent haircut that I am extremely happy with. Pics to follow. The Bad: really, the only problems with the school are the fact that it's a school. You should know what you're getting into with prices that low and the fact the liability waiver is required before you receive your service. I didn't actually have any negative issues that way, but I read some of the other reviews before going to the school, and they all seem to be “I didn't realize I was going to a school”. The students may take extra long because they don't know exactly what they're doing. If you ask for something really complicated or using cutting edge techniques, they may be unfamiliar with it and do a subpar job. If you're very vague about what you want, they don't have the massive decades of experience to interpret vague client statements. This isn't the place to go if you were really looking for the equivalent of that $160+ haircut that you would get it your typical LA salon. Expect student service, albeit truly excellent student service, but again, you're going to a school.Sidenote – the stylist who did me did not give a very good scalp massage while shampooing, but by God, did she make sure that I got the entire five minutes promised in the service description! It was super cute and adorable. The ugly: my only real complaint, the only issue with the school outside of it, ya know, just being a school, caveat emptor, is that the entire place reeked of chemicals. They have a real ventilation issue, and by the time I left, I had a bit of a headache. That has nothing to do with my haircut. I'm extremely happy with my haircut, and I saw several other people getting mail and coloring services. They looked super great. But the odor of bleach and hair dye and nail polish remover was really really strong.Overall, I would recommend this for any budget, conscious person in need of a haircut, or if all you need is a simple trim or blunt cut.

Update 2/4/2022: I am moving my rating form 3 stars to 1 star and and absolutely cringing about how I got totally bilked from this company. I recommend spending your money somewhere that will be transparent with you and is not a complete disaster when it comes to administrative (dis)organization. During my initial I was convinced to get a lab panel through LabCorp. I was told that it would be covered by insurance. So, several months later now, I just received an EOB from my insurance company with zero coverage on the $2,197.25 that LabCorp billed, of which I owe $628.86. Good grief, what a scam. Tough lesson learned, no thanks.*********original review - I had a great Clear + Brilliant treatment here last week and I had actually been thinking about becoming a member. There is only one reason why I decided against it: lack of staff responsiveness. It took me two calls/voicemails before I was able to book my appointment. After my treatment, I actually wanted a hormone panel and the women told me she would email me with the information. No email. So I texted the number that the staff told me to text after I told them it was impossible to get through. Did that last week and still no response. Unfortunately, I dont have the time to chase down the staff here to get an appointment and for follow ups so I dont be going back (sadly).

Just moved from Philly a few days beforehand, did a Google search for a place to get my touch up relaxer. Had a stable and good stylist back where I came from. Called 10 locations and no appointments were available until the following week. Booked for a touch up relaxer @ $75 with a woman (didn't catch her name) and arrived on time, I thought the price was reasonable compared to the other quotes I received. When I arrived, was told “ring the bell and tell them you have an appointment with Eric” & so I did.Eric was clearly overbooked running back and forth with multiple clients doing his very best. I sat and waited for a full hour, with an appointment. Another lady comes up when I'm at the wash bowl and asks for my name. I told her and she says “I've been waiting for you you're in my book”. Apparently there's some internal drama going on, which is typical and find. What isn't typical and fine is that I as the customer was affected. Eric does a fine job, but then I'm taken to another room where a woman presses my hair out and literally burned my ears 3 times, and my neck twice. I was close to walking out, but was already 3 hours in at this place for a quick touch up relaxer. By the time it was time to pay, I'm told that'll be $125. I said “I'm sorry, but I was given a price of $75 when I booked my appointment and wrote it down. That is what I am prepared to pay.” Eric accepted it because that is what I was told, but man that made me so uncomfortable. If I knew the correct price, I would've probably made an appointment elsewhere and waited for the following week for a place a little closer to my new home. I won't be back here, to say the least.

My entire experience at the Santa Monica and DTLA Laser Away locations have only felt like a waste of time, money, and trust. Its very ironic to me that a brand based around empowering women has made me feel so taken advantage of. No amount of girlboss vibes they infuse their marketing with can make up for the fact that they dont care about the people paying and putting their trust in them to perform medical procedures.I am concerned by the incredibly low standard that Laser Away clinicians are held to. There have been issues with all but one of my several treatments. The clinicians are not trained well enough to provide consistent and safe procedures. I feel incredibly violated that Laser Away, a MEDICAL OFFICE, has gotten away with repeatedly performing the wrong treatment on my face, and their customer service refuses to offer a sufficient resolution.Regardless of the time and money Ive personally wasted at Laser Away, I am most concerned by how untrained their clinical staff are. I would not recommend that anyone seek their services unless they are prepared to risk improperly administered and potentially unsafe medical procedures. My experience with Laser Away over the years is long and complicated, but here are the highlights of my experience:- I purchased a package of 9 Clear and Brilliant treatments in 2019. I was told at the time that this treatment targeted skin tone improvements. I received 7 treatments from 2019 and 2021. After my 7th treatment, I received a promotional email from Laser Away saying that Clear and Brilliant can be performed targeting tone and texture at the same time instead of individually . I was never told there were two options for Clear and Brilliant, so I called customer service to confirm that I was receiving the correct treatment that targeted tone improvements. It turned out that the clinicians had been using the texture option for all but one of my treatments. The only reason why one of the treatments was performed correctly was because the clinician asked me if I wanted to target tone or texture at the beginning of my appointment. I was not asked this in any of my prior appointments, nor was I informed that I would need to specify this at each treatment. My desire to target tone should have been noted in my files, or clinicians should be trained to ask every client about their goals before each treatment. Ultimately, 6 of the 9 treatments I received were not what I paid for and did not address my concerns with my skin due to the negligence of the staff.- In one of my first treatments the clinician skipped the area between my eyebrows. This was an area I specifically mentioned that I wanted to be treated in my initial consultation. The clinician skipped this area due to the placement of the eye shield, however there are other types of eye shields available that would allow them to treat this area. The clinicians should know which one to use to administer treatments properly. Ever since this experience, I have had to remind clinicians what parts of my face I specifically wanted to be treated and ask them to use the proper eye shield that will allow for the treatment to be applied correctly. It should not be the job of the customer to supervise the clinician during a medical procedure.- An attempted resolution for my 6 improperly administered Clear and Brilliant treatments was one IPL treatment to see how I liked it. During this procedure, I not only had to prompt the clinician to use the proper eye shield, but they also forgot to cover my eyebrows, resulting in a chunk of my eyebrow getting signed off. I was later informed by a customer service associate that clinicians are supposed to tape over your eyebrows before the procedure to prevent this from happening. Once again, it should not have been my job to supervise my clinician to perform all the necessary steps for administering a procedure safely. Time will tell if my eyebrow grows back properly or not.

I went couple years ago, did 4 treatments and pay almost $6000 .not to mention the treatments hurt so much, they would burn you face whit laser, of course they ask you to apply a numbing cream for the pain ( but still can feel the burning sensation on your face ).They promised me permanent great results, and honestly i can barely see the results on my face...they've told me in the “pre interview “to wait 1 month to notice great results, it has been a least 1 years after my treatments and my face still looks the same. After performing 4 treatments .. I just want to mention after you face peels off from the crusty layer that the laser leaves you in about 3 to 5 days after each treatment … yeah of course you face looks like a infant baby face pinkish color ..but after 3 month from treatments you face start to look back the same way to the original way you had it before doing the treatment .. they take pictures of the before and after … and they take different angles so they choose the ones they see are good for the business and post them on the original web page and show the difference to other patients, so people can feel confident and decide to do the treatments…butAnyway, take the risk .. experience yourself, but only you can be the judge.I'm just telling you my story… might be different in you case…good luck to all of you, and do your research and decide which treatment is best for you, if you're planning or looking to remove your acne scars ..Cheers to everyone.
Cienega Med Spa

I came to Cienega Med Spa before my wedding and met with Abigail and would *highly* not recommend the experience to others. My experience is detailed below:Making an appointment was easy and they quickly gave me a room. Abigail, however, was 15 minutes late with no communication. I thought they forgot about me as I was just sitting in the room alone aimlessly. Once she did arrive, I initially got a great vibe from her; she's knowledgeable, kind, and funny.I verbalized that I definitely wanted botox and to discuss and educate about fillers. She discussed topics thoroughly and answered all questions in a helpful manner. Upon completion of her assessment, she recommended 36 units of botox and to do fillers a different day. I explained that the most Botox I have ever done is 22 units and there is no way I'm about to do 36 units before my big day. I do not want to appear frozen for my wedding, I just want to look refreshed and have movement in the eyebrows. She kept pushing and pushing that I must get my chin done and must do my eyebrows, etc. It felt like she was refusing to take no for an answer. The next 10 minutes felt like a back and forth uncomfortable negotiation of her trying to sell me on more units. She was simply not taking no for an answer, it was so pushy. After finally giving up and agreeing to 26 units, she exited the room and a gentleman came in telling me I needed to pay prior to services rendered.I'm newer to LA so I'm not sure if this is a common practice in this city but I was completely astonished that they would ask such a thing. It made me feel like a criminal as though I would ever even consider walking out on them unpaid. I've gotten Botox many times in the past in various cities and this has never been my experience. You always pay after the service!Anyways, I paid and the service was about to be provided. I'm awful with needles and shared this piece of vital information with Abigail. Most nurses when told this, typically jump into high gear knowing that their patient can faint on them and it is a medical and safety concern. It is common to be given ice, water, or sugar (sweets), and to be watched for additional time post-injection. Instead, she scoffed when I asked her for water or an ice pack in preparation. When she was done she simply walked out of the room and wished me a good day telling me she was leaving the door open in case I needed something from the front desk staff. This was the icing on the cake for me. In the medical world, when someone tells you that they struggle with needles you must take them seriously! I have encountered nursing students that took this bit of information more seriously than Abigail did. If I faint, do you really think the front desk staff would hear me or even know what to medically do?As if all of this wasn't enough, guess what? My entire eyebrow and forehead region was dead frozen, losing my ability to show emotion for my wedding. Exactly what I pleaded with her multiple times to not happen.I must reiterate that I would highly not recommend Cienega Med Spa or Abigail.

My nurse Calvin was amazing.. I went in to begin my tattoo removal journey for a tattoo the size of a sheet of paper, 8x11 inches (yikes) and I was terrified of the pain. I could never have imagined how quickly he would get the whole area zapped. It was painful but not too awful, and luckily the first session was over lightening fast. The office itself is really cute and the staff seem great. I love their office girl Jess too. She even helped me take some cute pics and funny videos of my tattoo removal, which distracted me from the pain and made it all more fun and enjoyable. I have about 9 more sessions to go and I'm not even that afraid to go back, because of the staff.Definitely glad I chose Sculpt for this tattoo removal!! I vetted a few different places and this one was by far the nicest, so for the experience to be so pleasant… wow. I'm impressed.I have to keep it covered up with spf70 for the summer but the aftercare instructions were made really clear to me and easy to follow, unlike some other docs I went to about this tattoo. Also a plus.
