Comment: I hate to leave a bad review for a black owned business, but people should know. I would warn against getting braids done by Emani. My finished wet braids looked fine in the shop. But when I got home I realized each braid had been closed with white flaky glue, that scrapes the skin on my back. It’s embarrassing to look like this. Additionally I paid for long braids with wavy ends and got chin length braids with 70% loose hair. There is no reason why glue should have been used in the first place. Braids should be closed with slip knots. I tried to settle this directly with Emani, but she was unable and unwilling to offer a solution, other than offering a $20 refund on a $300 service. Now I’m forced to spend even more money to have someone else fix this and have to show up at a wedding looking crazy. Unacceptable and a huge disappointment.

Comment: The atmosphere and environment in this shop is amazing. As soon as you walk in the door you’re greeted and made to feel very welcomed. I’ve been coming here since it opened and would highly recommend seeing Riyah for locs, braids, color, plus so much more and Shawn for a clean fade or a crisp line up! Coming to The Shop SD you will definitely receive quality service every time.

Comment: I started my loc journey with Riyah and continue to go to her because of her skills are one of a kind and hard to come by. I love the chill vibe at the shop. Everyone there is very welcoming and the conversations are always enjoyable. The skills held in the shop are unmatched. I would highly recommend not only Riyah but anyone in the shop for locs, twists, feed-ins, a fresh cut, fade, color, and much more. :)

Comment: The entire shop is professional, hospitable, and knowledgeable about different hair textures and styles. Riyah gave me waist-length knotless box braids, and I could not be happier! She answered all of my haircare questions and left me feeling confident that I could maintain this style even as a surfer with heavy sun + ocean exposure.10/10 recommend this shop to all textures looking for trustworthy stylists.
