Comment: I graduated from SSA April 2024. The hostility I endured was inexplicable. Ms. Melissa was the best teacher we ever had with 10+ years experience. She was terminated half way through the program. Never explained to us what had happened but we all knew it was out of spite. Starting our program we had Ms.Nunez, known as our campus director for the night students. She was our basic skin teacher although she is a licensed cosmo. We complained since she wasn’t a good teacher and relied heavily on the premade slideshows from former instructors. After that, she had it out for our class. She was rude to Ms. Melissa constantly, rude to fellow teachers & students. There are so many horror stories that aren’t mine to share but have been brought up to higher up’s about her behavior and unreasonable treatments towards students. Nothing was ever brought forth and she remains as devious as ever. Ms. Jess was our second teacher who was hired with only a couple years of experience as mainly a waxer. Asking her questions about how to use our more advanced modalities, she would have to look it up on her phone. She was always threatening us with punishments even if it was a first warning of something we did. Nunez & Jess both treated us like we were in preschool. They always craved respect when none was ever shown to us in the slightest. Towards the end of my program, I was genuinely depressed about going to school. I knew going would result in another incident. It turned into us not even being able to practice services unless we had clients. She wanted us to focus on state board and state board only. Studying was very important but after graduation, we would have all the time in the world to study. Now was the time to take advantage of all our equipment we would no longer have after we left. Counting the days to graduate the program I was once so excited for was devastating. Seeing how teachers were so held down by her was awful. Seeing how classmates after me were confided into our small library to strictly study and nothing more knowing this isn’t what we signed up for. For as much as we paid, we deserved to have fun and enjoy our time. I would never recommend this school to anyone in the future and my success was due to ME. I stucked it up, took the anger and used it to make me stronger. I hope someone finally steps in and gets her out of there.

Comment: I recently had the pleasure of receiving a green tea facial and a full arm waxing from Janelli (Instagram: beautybyboricua), and I couldnt be more impressed with the results!The facial left my skin feeling absolutely flawless, hydrated, and healthy, while the full arm waxing left my skin equally hydrated and remarkably smooth with minimal hair regrowth almost two months later!Janelli’s expertise and attention to detail were evident in both services, and I highly recommend her to anyone looking for exceptional esthetician services, whether its for facials or body waxing.Five stars for an outstanding experience!

My one star is due to the rude coordinator, older Hispanic lady with glasses. I went in for my free service for leaving a yelp review which she was refusing to do due to the length of my hair. She was refusing until I pointed out it was false advertisement and demanded I get my free service. It was not color lightning btw. This campus needs a new coordinator.

When I arrived, the manager told me that there was no record of my appointment, and no one was available to provide the services. Comment: As a former student here at Salon Success, Corona. I would be glad to say that my experience as an esthetician student here was great. The process of enrollment was exceptional Ms. Charlene answered all of my questions and took her time. She replied to my text messages, emails and/or calls promptly. My teacher Mrs. Shaunda was was outstanding!!! Mrs. Shaunda was my teacher for the full 5 modules (from what I hear that is extremely rare). If we as students had questions about testing, assignments, demos, state board she thoroughly took her time to explain and was very patient with us. She adhered by the school policies, rules and regulations. Some may have thought she was strict. However, she made learning very fun and enjoyable as she would sing and rap to us in class. Mrs. Shaunda absolutely loves teaching and wants the best for all of her students. She is very proud of all of her students, and when graduation came, she would have a speech for every esthetician student and we all looked forward to hearing. As for other teachers and staff, I personally did not have any conflict with I did hear differently from other students, but I believe that this may be the case with any other school. There have been complaints of not having enough product at times, sheets and towels being stained, facilities or equipment being run down, but I believe this could potentially be anywhere. These things did not bother me because to me, it’s an understanding that there are several students going through the school and a lot of traffic to where there would be a lot of wear and tear which is completely normal. Again, it is a school, not a five-star spa or salon like some students may have expected. I would recommend other potential students to come here as long as they understand that this is simply a school to help you pass state board, you must have to continue further education to learn technique, and the latest and newest treatments. Again, this was my experience and enjoyed the people and and friendships made here.

She was heartless and hacked my hair like a maniac in 1 minute. I was so careful to choose this place and explain my dilemma to staff prior as well. Never go there!!!!! Fire her if shes the boss!!!!!!!! She is the absolute worst. Very insensitive. My hair was past my waist, then only 0.25 inches long after.

Comment: I’ve been going here for a couple of years now. I used to get highlights there but I started doing my own now. The color I had there was always fine, I just like playing around with DIY colors, lol.I haven’t been to any other schools for comparison but this one seems pretty good. Of course it takes a little longer than a regular stylist, but the students get lots of help from the teachers. I’ve always been happy with the results. It’s very affordable, which is crucial if you’re on a tight budget.They have senior discounts on Tues, We’d and Thurs, which is nice.It’s a very nice place, spacious and well kept. It could use a larger waiting area, but the wait time to get started is short, so not a big deal.It’s located upstairs, but just past the stairs there’s an elevator. It’s very convenient for me, as totally by coincidence my insurance agent and dentist are there as well! Also Home Depot, Sam’s Club and Walmart are right across or down the street.I’d recommend an appointment but they do take walk-ins as well.

Comment: Was so excited about this place until I tried to schedule additional services today. Called one number, ask to sched services, they confirm availability, seem as though they can sched but instead transfer you without telling you. The actual location of services answers the phone, I ask if I can sched a morning appt for certain services they said sure, asked me to hold, then just kept me holding. Eventually the phone rang about 30 times before someone answered the phone not even realizing I was left on hold. I again explained I had been placed on hold trying to sched appts. It was not after I was put on hold forgotten about, picked back up that they decided to tell me the sched person was busy helping someone else.TERRIBLE phone etiquette and customer service from each person. They asked if I wanted a call back, of course I dont, but at least an apology for not really knowing what you’re doing and that you forgot you placed me on hold.

Comment: I went this week for a haircut. Tired of paying over 50 for just a trim. The reviews looked good. I got a very inexperienced stylist yet super sweet. She went to ask her instructor questions and guidance throughout the entire time. Pretty much Miss Paty and Vanessa ( the instructors) did my whole cut. I’m happy with it for 15 dollars! Are you kidding me? The place and instructors were very professional. The students seemed happy and there was a good vibe. Will definitely be back

Comment: The graduate survey I received was very superficial having no real questions about my experience at Salon Success Academy and leaving no room for feedback. That showed me that this company clearly isnt interested in receiving any constructive criticism from their students. Overall, my time at SSA wasnt the absolute worst, but it was pretty bad and for the cost of tuition it should have been much better. Cons:1) Dirty/stained towels and sheets for both student & client use 2) Constantly running out of and not using cleaning supplies like bleach for the laundry and state regulated disinfectant like barbicide. So Pinesol, yes Pinesol, is being used to prevent the spread of infectious diseases, a product that clearly is not made for such a serious task. 3) Instructors who clearly do not care about teaching the proper procedures for services and dont ensure that students are following state board regulations. High turnover rate because instructors with value are not appreciated, while trash instructors stick around because there are ZERO consequences for their foul actions. Instructors also allowed to work while sick, doing demos on students and spreading germs. 4) The game of favorites is 100% played here. I wasnt a favorite but achieved every high accolade achieveable at this campus because my hard work simply could not be denied or overlooked. 5) Unprofessionalism from staff to other staff being witnessed by students. 6) No real graduation. You can only invite 5 family members and/or close friends to watch you clock out in the hallway. Although any student that you may not even know can watch. No decor allowed either.Pros: 1) I pushed through and graduated.Ive found that leadership issues come from the top down so change is unlikely. If you have any mental health challenges I beg you not to come here because they will only get worse. This place is not the place to expect to be empowered or to learn how to be a professional.

Comment: My wife has be a customer for 3 years, first2 yeats was good, it this year, her hair was over process, she started at 12pm and it took them 4hrs to color her hair, now her hair is. Falling out, she is so upset, every time she washes her hair she cannot believe what happen. There’s a teacher from New York, very rude her. Customer service s.... . Feel sorry for the students.

Comment: Terrible customer service over the phone. Wanted to get lash extensions. Their website says the offer individual lashes. Called them, girl on the phone confirmed they were individual lashes and would take anywhere from 1 - 2 hours and last up to 2 weeks. I said I would call back to make an appointment. When I called back spoke to a different girl, she also confirmed they were individual lashes and lasted up to 2 weeks, so I made an appointment for me and my mom. We get down there, THEY DONT HAVE INDIVIDUAL LASHES!!!! Not just that, but theyre the temporary lash clusters that only last 1-2 days. This was a total waste of my time and Im stunned with how incompetent the people that answer the phone. I specifically called twice to confirm the information and was told wrong both times! Wont be returning here.

Comment: This school used to be amazing. Never had an issue with the quality of service until my last visit. I will NEVER come back and will advise friends and family not to go either. The girl who was working on my hair messed up so bad it looked like she gave up halfway through and it definitely showed. I have since gone elsewhere and gotten my hair fixed as much as was possible. Disappointed with the teacher for letting me walk out looking the way I did after she saw how it looked. Would have gone back to complain had I noticed how bad it was the first day.

They claim to be handling the seriously extensive bullying situation, but they never do anything about it!Ive never seen such a sickening place where the teachers not only do nothing about all the bullying that occurs right in FRONT of them, but actually JOIN IN and make the victim feel like they are the ones in the wrong!As for the curriculum, forget about it. Its mediocre at best. Dont even bother if you actually want to learn something useful.
