Fortunately, Gloss Studio was able to fit me in and Sylvia transformed my hair! Comment: Updated review:Editing to explain a few instances that have happened since my haircut.First off, want to say Serena and Diana are both amazing and would recommend them anytime!The customer service though is horrible.About a year ago, I scheduled an appointment for a blowout. I came in, someone started my blowout but needed to take over someone else’s appointment so another person finished my blowout. This person had no clue what she was doing, my hair turned out horrible, they still charged me and gave me a free hair oil as a “sorry” and I went home crying about how awful it looked.Fast forward a year later, I thought I’d give them another chance. I scheduled a blowout again and a few days before, I was trying to cancel because I didn’t want to leave upset again if something like that happened again. It was before the 48 hour cancellation policy. I called 4 times, left a voicemail, sent a text, and attempted to cancel online but conveniently enough, they don’t have an option to cancel online. So today, the day before my scheduled blowout, they texted me saying they can cancel but would have to charge me. I explained that I called 4 times and they said “we’re closed on Mondays as noted on our website” and are continuing with the cancellation fee.I’ve overall had a horrible experience here besides my haircut with Serena (who I’d highly recommend) and would just overall never recommend this salon to anyone.Previous review:Everyone was so kind. I had my haircut done by Serena and she was sooo sweet and did an amazing job! Im in love with my hair. Overall such a great experience and Ill definitely keep coming back. Thank you so much!

Comment: I will book with Devyn from now on. I got a message early in the day that she was running behind and wanted to know if I could come in 30 mins later. I had to keep my scheduled time due to plans afterwards. She caught up through the day and was able to take me at my scheduled time (impressed, thankful). THEN she gave me the cut Ive described and shown photos of to the last several stylists,,, and absolutely nailed it. And didnt take THAT much time to do it. And shes super friendly and super easy to talk to. None of the last 3 stylists have been able to deliver as Devyn did. Best to her, so glad to have found her!

But the next day on Thursday, I found out about a teacher conference with my kids teacher on Friday. So, I called to change the appointment. The front desk staff was very rude and said Id be charged half the price because I called less than 48 hours before. I didnt know about this rule and asked if they could waive the fee this time. They still insisted on charging me. I think its unfair, and the front desk should remind customers of the cancellation policy at the time of booking. Even though I like their hair service, I wont go back because of how the front desk treated me. Its not just about the charge; its about how customers are treated, which affects the business a lot. The staff member was rude, unfriendly, and seemed like she didnt want to be there. The salon management should be careful about who they have at the front desk because it can really affect their business.

Comment: If I could give this place a zero I would. I pre-paid for some extensions and my appointment was at noon on Friday. I called at approximately 1040am on Wednesday to try to cancel the appointment. They said it was less than 48 hours which it isnt . I asked could they just reschedule as I found out yesterday I will need to start chemo and all of my hair is going to fall out. They said sorry but we are charging you anyways . Policy is policy . It wasnt even 48 hours . This is not only horrible customer service and a guaranteed way to loose a customer, but also robbery . It was obvious with the way the receptionist went back and forth with Cheyenne, the stylist I was going to book with that she simply did not want to do my hair today. Perhaps she just wanted to end early on a Friday or didn’t want to deal with a blonde. Either way, the apt time was good online, but not when I called because words kept being put in my mouth. I could have easily sent pictures of my hair as well. However, the time and service was available on line. I will never give this business my time again.

Comment: Long, wavy, thick, coarse hair and what to do with it troubling you? Then head to Gloss in Rancho Bernardo / 4S and ask for Cheyenne! I hadnt had my hair cut since June of 2020, after going to shoulder length for hair donation, so over two years of growth had it just above my waist. With so much length and thickness, people have gotten a bit lost in it. Cheyenne, who has her own beautiful curls, knew just what to do, while considering my asks as well. Great experience with the appointment setting team as well, as they recommended her based on our discussion. Ill be back!

Comment: I went into Gloss for a hair glaze + blowout. Over the phone when I made the appointment, the receptionist confirmed the price would be $80 for both services. I thought the price wasnt too bad (though quite a bit higher than my salon on the east coast). I didnt need a blowout but since the price was doable, I thought okay, why not treat myself? I went into the salon, and Cheyenne did a great job on both my glaze and blowout. She was respectful, professional, had a gentle touch, and was quick to do the job. When I finished and was checking out, the receptionist told me I owed $105 for both the glaze and blowout ($40 for the glaze, $65 for the blowout). I let her know that when I made the appointment, the receptionist I spoke with over the phone had confirmed that the price would be $80 and if I knew that it would cost me any more than that, I most definitely would NOT have gotten the blowout (a $65 blowout is just ridiculous - Ive NEVER paid more than $45 for a blowout). The salon would not budge and said that the receptionist on the phone shouldve let me know that the $80 price shed given me was the STARTING price and that the cost of both services could end up being more. The salon owner took $10 off and brought my total to $95 (still $15 more than the price they originally quoted me). I was disappointed by the way they handled this situation. If they had just told me the price from the get-go or when I came in, upon observing my hair, felt that theyd need to charge me more and just communicated that to me openly and honestly, I wouldve been okay with it, but they did not. For these reasons, I give a 3-star review.

Comment: Terrific stylists all around. My kids and I visit Gloss and have never been disappointed. What I love is that if we cant get an appointment with our regular stylists, I can book on-line for the time I need, and choose the option book with any available stylist, and still end up with a great cut. Love them!

It’s location is efficient with shops and restaurants surrounding to be able to plan out errands adding to getting pampered beauty salon services done. The salon was energetic and welcoming with pleasant employee staff. The beginning process of my hair transformation Cheyenne has performed truly made me feeling glamorous with the foils weren’t even taken out. Comment: I decided to try this salon due to its location and reviews. A few days before, I had my hair cut at a different salon and was unhappy with the result. I booked at Gloss and got in with Devyn. She is a lovely young lady and I appreciate how she listened to me. I told her about my unpleasant haircut and what I was hoping to get. Devyn cut a little then asked what I thought. She kept checking with me throughout the whole process. She could tell by my reaction that I wanted to go shorter and thinner. She kept cutting until I was finally satisfied. I left with the cut/style I was hoping for and my husband reacted positively the moment I walked in the door at home. His words were now thats the haircut for you!. I like that the salon is small and cozy and that standards for the protection of COVID were not only posted but evident in practice. My experience with Devyn really made my day and I look forward to returning and using her services again.

My bill was 130, more thanI’ve ever been charged. When I asked the receptionist at check out she said that’s what my stylist wrotedown. I sent two emails to the salon/owner asking about the charge and finally heard back a month later whenI responded to an appointment reminder. The salons policy is the webpage only lists starting prices. Leaving my stylist of 15 years was not an easy decision, especially since we are friends, I loved everything about how he did my hair and I love him. I was extremely anxious about finding someone new. As fate would have it, the answer was a mere two miles from my home.I happened to walk into Gloss salon seeking a simple blowout. What I walked away with was my new salon, stylist and an incredible new look. Serena M. had extra time and was able to do a full haircut instead of just a blowout. She quickly set my mind at ease with her professionalism, calm and soothing demeanor. She embraces styling with a youthful enthusiasm that is contagious. I mentioned some changes I was considering and her excitement won me over.I cant say enough good things about my stylist and this salon. Everyone is very kind, they have a nice selection of natural products available and theyve recently remodeled. The salon has a cozy, friendly feel about it. Their prices are standard, and I didnt feel any sticker shock with the services provided.If you follow Gloss on social media you will be impressed with their before/after transformations.

Comment: Do yourself a favor and schedule hair and makeup with ULTA across the street. I had a terrible experience at Gloss, both in preparation and on the day of my wedding in October 2019. I made reservations for myself and a handful of family/bridesmaids for hair and makeup when I was first wedding planning in May and my appointments were randomly canceled and re-confirmed for months. I was receiving text messages every couple months with reminders for more appointments than I had made. Then when I would call, the receptionist could not confirm my appointments until I started calling daily in September.I had a practice makeup/hair appointment in July and the gals who did my hair werent even present on the day of the wedding. No one gave me an explaination for if they left or were fired...the lack of professionalism was astounding. Additionally, the price for my makeup as the bride was triple that of everyone else, so I was forced to cancel my makeup appointment 1 week before the wedding. They also acted like opening up at 9am instead of 10am was a huge deal.I would never go back, not even for a blow out.
